I'm in the process of trying out as many patterns as possible at the moment, and I think the next one I want to try is the gunstock.

I've been looking at the usual suspect's offerings, rough rider and steel warrior, but I'm having trouble finding the 'goldilocks' gunstock.
Rough rider appear to offer two different sizes: one that is about 4" closed and one that is 3.5" closed.
The 4" one has a nice thin spear blade with a long pull (which I like) but is quite large at 4" (which I don't like)
The 3.5" version has a less pronounced gunstock shape, and the main blade is a more SAK shape and has a half moon shaped nail nick, which I don't like as much as the blade on the larger model.

The other option I have found seems at first to be ideal.
It's the steel warrior gunstock. 3" closed (ideal for me) good pronounced gunstock shape, and a nice slender spear point blade with a long pull.
Only trouble is, I can only find this one in yellow.
I do like yeller knives, but not for this pattern.

Normally I have no problems finding knives, but the gunstock seems to be quite elusive.
One of the main stumbling blocks has been the fact that rough rider have a (very nice) type of checkered bone scales which they call 'gunstock bone', and this makes searching for gunstock pattern knives frustrating.

Has anyone got any of these knives?
What is your opinion?
Any other ideas apart from the ones I already mentioned?
Is there a steel warrior in bone etc that I just haven't come across?

I really don't want to spend more than about $15-$20 at the moment, because I am just trying out patterns.
I've sidestepped a few mistakes already by buying inexpensive knives and using them.

Rough rider have Rough Rider make a very nice gunstock pattern knife. Its worth going through the hassle and sorting them out from the gunstock bone that they have.

That's exactly the one I was looking at :D
That's the 3.5" model I described above.
I wish it had a more slender main blade and a long pull instead of a nail nick, but the filework is nice (I have a similarly fileworked RR)
I'm a little concerned about the faux malachite though, because all of the descriptions I have read have said that the scales may be cracked.
What's it like in hand?
My other main concern was that the handle has a less pronounced gunstock shape, and thus might not be a good representation of the pattern.
Is this just a trick of the camera?

Overall, this is the favorite so far. I like the fact that it has embellishments such as the filework and carved bolsters, because according to Bernard Levine, the gunstock was a deluxe pattern, thus the embellishments seem appropriate.

That was your review? That review is what turned me on to this knife in the first place!

Even so...
Queen City Economy line in Delrin in Carbon nicely finished with sharp swedges costs $36
The carbon steel is excellent, sharpens well and hold a mean edge
Too much for a test knife, that is good enough to last for ever?

I have one, and they are as good as the $50+ bone in D2, but not as pretty

I only wish Queen upped the anti and stopped using those horrible coin shields! :(
