Hi, I'm in the market for a small, very lightweight, and conceable neck knife that can double as a bootknife/belt knife if possible. My price range is around 15-30 USD.

I have been looking at the SOG Outline, Cold Steel Spike, and CRKT F4 Carson.

This is for mainly intended for last resort self-defence and general knife duties.

I think that the Camillus Arclite will fill the bill nicely at around $20

I agree with fudo. The Outline is too specialized for ripping cord. The Spike is a pure stabber. The F4 is a great neck knife for utility, but it is too small for self-defense.

Timberline Mini Pitbull, 3" AUS6 blade, should be able to find for around $25.

Also, Cold Steel Para Edges come in a variety of blade designs. AUS8 just shy of 3", also around $25 on the net. The sheaths don't have a way to attach to a belt, just a chain.

Valiant, you could look into the new Becker Necker(BK11) from BK&T. I picked one up at a gun show for only $35. :D

I carry mine on my belt, via a TekLok, and it just disappears until I need it.

Good Luck

I also vote for the Benchmade 160...a bit higher than $20-30, though. Well throught out knife, very low profile and footprint under a shirt or on a static cord. I use it as a primary backpacking knife since it is so darn light. I have the GIN-1 steel version that can still be found on NewGraham, IIRC.

I also like the CRKT K-AT. I will try it out for a backpacking knife, and it has several carry options that make it versitile.

What about the Emerson laGriffe. Very small, very mean, i polished mine and cord wrapped it. Probably can find a used one for +/- $45

That looks pretty awesome, Geoff.

I'd vote for the Arclite--it's a helluva deal for $20, although the Becker looks pretty good too.

The CRKT F4 is a nice little knife, but I would also suggest the CRKT Fixed Blade Falcon. Its in the 20 dollar range. The grip is plenty large enough to fill the hand. The sheath can be worn as a neck knife, or it also includes a j-clip for IWB carry.

I like my Becker Necker too, but it's a better utility knife than a self-defense knife - you might want to go with something with more of a point.

i wouldnt reccomend a spike at all, only good for stabbing and too narrow imho, like a big long kinda sharp nail imho. not a good deal at any price imho. sheaths crummy too.

the cammilus arclite is good, the livesay woo is the best imho, if ya can find one. imho the woo is the #1 necker for the $. the cammilus is all around a good deal, easy to get, cheap, decent sheath (the sheath makes me wanna kick CRKT and there crummy sheaths, look at the arclite @ $25 or so w/a decent sheath, its not impossible, hello CRKT!!!)

but if possible get a woo or a little pecker. (what a name lol)

Can't go wrong with the Arclite if you're looking for a flat, lightweight neck knife!

Another nice knife in that category would be CRKT's Stiff KISS M.D.P.
