Inexpensive tomahawk holder

I ordered a Trapper Tomahawk from Ft. Turner about a month ago. It is a great little hawk, but the handle slims down towards the bottom to where it feels a little small in my hands.
I took some duct tape and wrapped it around the handle and covered this with electrician's tape. It took a few times to get it just right, but now it has a slight palm swell, and cushions the blow somewhat. And is there to stay, unless I remove it. This cost me nothing but time, as I already had the tape.
Next, I wanted some means to carry it on my belt. All the holders I saw where in the $25.00 to $30.00 range, and up. Since the tomahawk only cost me $65.00, I didn't want to pay almost half the price of the tomahawk, just to carry it, so I started looking for some other way to do it.
I found what I was looking for at Sears.
They sell a Craftsman knife holder for $5.99. This looked like it would work, since the Trapper's handle is rather narrow.
It is made of good leather, and fits the hawk perfectly. I cut out the bottom and sanded it down and rubbed some mink oil into it. I can even turn the thing upside down, and it stays put, but yet is easy to pull out. I think this will work. What do you think?

You may want to also get a cover, or mask, for that edge. Otherwise, your ER bill may be the most expensive part of wearing that hawk. Just saying..

Yeah, I haven't got that far yet. Although I walked around with it on my belt for a while, and it didn't interfere in anyway with my arm movement.
It's a work in progress.

I think that's a brilliant idea for a carrier i will be stealing that idea for sure that's a sweet hawk i love my Iroquois hawk the tapered handle took me a little while to get used to. But now i prefer it i got a Kydex cover made for mine for a very reasonable price be looking for a knife carrier Next! Nice work thanks for posting it.
