Hey folks,
I’m getting into traditionals after not owning any for a few years, and some of your custom slipjoints have me absolutely drooling. I’m starting off with some GEC’s and such, which I know provide tremendous value. But once I figure out a pattern I really like, I plan on picking up a custom.
I’m wondering if you guys can recommend me any “up and coming” custom makers. I’m looking for someone who’s work may not be completely perfect, someone who doesnt have a big name, but represents a solid bang for the buck.
I LOVE Todd Davison’s work, but at that price point I’m more used to buying fancy South African flippers with lots of bells and whistles. Maybe I’ll get to that point eventually with slipjoints, but I’m not there yet. Ideally I’d like to spend $2-300 on a single blade, ~4” closed knife in some sort of lovely wood. Is that at all realistic?
Thanks in advance, and pics are always welcome!
