It all started with the RC-3 a while back. I bought it, used it around the house a bit, and then sent it out for a custom sheath.

Then came the Izula. One for me, one for my son Jake (black,) and one for my daughter Laura (pink.) He's 6 and she's about to turn 8 and these are their first real fixed blades. I got them so we can talk knife safety, effective grips, and cutting techniques to minimize risk while maximizing the results.

Then the RC-4 to match my RC-3. Orange handles look GOOD!

The 4 went out for a custom rig and I was going to do some work on it when it got back. That changed once I'd had an opportunity to use it. It's darned good as-is.

So I went and ordered another RC-4 from Knifeworks the other day and got it last night...

This one's going to be my project knife...maybe...if I can do it. :D Otherwise it's going to be a hand me down for one of the kids.

right on Brian... looking forward to hearing more about this project...:)

Would like to see it when your finished. Thinking about doing a little project with a 4 myself sometime.
I'm still trying to come up with the money to outfit the rest of my family with Rats first!

Sounds pretty cool! Just make sure not to cut yourself, they are known to bite people!

:D

Well, my first thought was to strip the green coating and polish the blade to improve cutting performance but I have yet to find the thing the RC-4 won't cut.

I was thinking about adding some liners to thicken the handles a bit.

I might slightly drop the tip to make it more aesthetically pleasing to my eye but, again, haven't really found any problems with it as it came...

In other words, there are no hard plans yet...I'm going to use it and then use it some more and THEN decide if I can do anything to make it perform better.

Welcome to the Jungle.

I have an RC-3 that I stripped, ground the pommel off of, thinned the edge and textured the handle scales on.

It can be addictive.
