what could the edge longevity be be compared to. Is it as hard as 3v? also how about sharpening, what might that compare to?

I would say it's better than 1095 in general for edge holding and approaches some of the Super Steels commonly used in folders from my experience with it. In field use it takes a lot to even start to see it getting dull.

It's very easy to sharpen and maintain, easier than 1095 to sharpen.

Any discussion of edge longevity is useless without some idea of what task and environment you're talking about. There are 4 main "dulling" paths...

Corrosion
Abrasion
Chipping
Rolling

Depending on what you're cutting, how you're cutting it, and where you're cutting, your mix of these 4 mechanisms will vary, as will the comparison between two steels used in otherwise identical blades. For example, if you were going to be doing extended diving and salt-water work, an H1 blade would probably outperform A2, 1095 or similar just because it wouldn't rust. So... pick your task, then pick the steel to match the task.
