If INFI is such an amazing wonder steel, why arent more knife makers using it? Does Busse have some sort of an exclusivity contract with aliens or something?

Good question. I hacked thru a big dead fallen hardwood tree (took a couple hours) with my old FFBM and absolutely no dents, rolls, dings and it still cut paper ok.
Maybe others are using a similar steel but Jerry has his way of treating it which is top secret :foot:

Some Hogs much more knowledgeable on the subject than I will be along shortly I am sure but... it's my understanding that it's not so much the steel that gives Busse Knives the toughness they have but rather the heat treatment... So even if another maker/co. used INFI they would not necessarily get the same results...

something about mordor and mount doom..........................

seriously, there is some information about infi steel on the busse combat website, busse co. store, etc.......... try a google search.

yeah after Sauron died only jerry knows the secret...

Its good whatever he does to it. Sold me after using a couple blades hard.

The hell you say! I've never met Jerry personally, by any chance is he short like a Dwarf? (I'm about to show what geek I am)

From J.R.R. Tolkien's The Silmarillion:

"...That knife was made by Telchar of Nogrod, and hung sheathless by his side; iron it would cleave as if it were green wood..."

I've no doubt that I could use my NMSFNO LE to whittle a toothpick out of a lesser knife.

Yes, I think it is the heat treat that really makes the steel shine, even with 154cm, as offered in some of the smaller Bussekin offerings. The 154CM offered in Bussekin is unlike any 154CM offered in other blades; it's that magical heat treat.

People sometimes get a bit sensitive about INFI questions. I'll just stick with what the man himself said,

"INFI is a proprietary steel and heat-treat protocol developed by Busse Combat Knife Co. It is ONLY available through Busse Combat."
