Im curious what you long time infi users use for your sharpening technique... ceramic rod (any recommendations?) leather strop..with block or just the belt? (any recommendations?) both??

an do you use the ceramic rod in a backwar stroping action or towards the edge?? ive seen it done both ways..

I always convex my edges, I like the strength and ease of resharpening.

When they need touched up, I first steel the edge on a hardened steel rod, I pay close attention to the angle, and use a downward cutting edge first motion while holding the rod vertical resting on a counter top.

If it needs further touch up, I use wet dry sandpaper resting on my leather strop, it usually only takes a couple passes with a reverse motion, then finish with the leather strop mounted on a wood block, that's loaded with green compound.

I'm in the proces of torturing a Boss Jack because I'm hand-regrinding it to a thinner bevel with a DC4 sharpening stone.

Will post results when I finish.

I usually just strop the knives on leather. Add compound or toothpaste if you want more.

With INFI I feel the thinnest, finest grit works best.

Only had infi a short while. But it seems to take an edge easy regardless of how you sharpen it. I just freehand with the thin ceramic stones from a edge pro ripoff. Then hand strop on a belt with green compound. Feels like my arm hair jumps off my arm in terror before the blade even touches it.

I've had 5160 from ontario give me a much harder time to get razor sharp.
