Random thoughts as I play with a knife at work... Has Busse ever tried to make a Damascus steel out of INFI and SR101?

Not that I have ever seen. I admit it would be cool though

Buy a big, thick chunk of INFI. Break out the forge, hammer, and tongs. Heat, beat, fold, repeat ;)

I'd rather Busse make a San Mai blade out of INFI and SR101. Just make sure not to call it that because of CS's stupid ass Cease and Desist letters about the name.

I don't know that San Mai with the two would do much good. They're both such fantastic steels. The reason I think the Damascus would be great is because INFI is "stainless" and SR101 isn't, so you could probably get a good pattern to etch into it. Then you have a brilliant design and the worlds toughest steel, AND it's a gorgeous piece of art. :D

Not INFI/sr101, but...there is one piece out there.

Alex I seem to recall a thread where Jerry gave INFI stock to some forgers to see how it responded under the hammer. Is that correct or am I imagining it?

Cool idea but it won't come true sine INFI is an air hardening steel while SR101 is oil hardening type.
