What is the difference between the SRKW steel and INFI? Don't they pass the same tests or no?
Thanks for patience with a green horn.

I won't speak about the other properties, but INFI is much more corrosion resistant. It is comparable to ATS34, but it is still a tough carbon steel!

what exactly are you looking for?
Both are excellent.
INFI is stain resistant and slightly tougher.
What tests are you talking about?

I guess that's simple enough. I just didn't know what the difference was between the steels, but I realize that the answer can probably get way above my head if it got any more complicated than more corrosion resistant and tougher.
don't mind me...:o

Well, from my personal experience, I have not seen SR101 nor INFI chip at all.
I am no metallurgist (sp?) but I can say from personal experience, that these two steels are my favorites.

I am no metalologist:o but from pics I have seen, Swamp Rats have temper lines and B's have not? Now there may very well be temper lines on INFI:rolleyes: , I just have not seen them. Some form of homogenization:D . I am no metalologist, but I have played a doctor on TV.

Most of the larger Rats (SR101) are differentially tempered (harder on edge, softer on spine,) hence the temper line. The Busse's are all thru-tempered to the same hardness = no temper line.

I don't know, but the Busse Tali-whacker in SR101 or the Basic series in infi-m might be an exception to that rule.

The Bully should be along soon to answer this question in a more meaningful way. You might want to try doing a few searches in the meantime.

I like the answer no. 4 and 8.

The SR 101 offered ideal high standard for knives ( different tempered on different parts of a knife for good edge holding and do not break easily like low quality knives that may have good edge holding but break or crack easily on impact). The weakness of this SR 101 is poorer stain resistance for sure.

INFI offered mor than normal expectation from good knives because INFI has mono temper at the same good hardness of good knives (minus plus 59 - 60 rockwel) and yet it has good stain resistance ( this is from my study and my experience).
