Infidel failure to fire/retract

I got a BNIB Mini-Infidel about a week ago. Its really cool overall. I'm not happy about the amount of blade play, but I read that was going to be a problem before I even ordered it so I'm not complaining.

But, over the last couple days, the knife has failed to retract the blade several times. It will fire the blade with no problem, but retracting it into the handle has been finicky. It may work perfectly 20 times, and then have a fail to retract maybe 3-4 times in a row.

Is this about on par for the infidel reliability? Am I "doing it wrong?" LOL

Sadly I probably won't carry it much if it stays like this.

Both of my Infidels were “weak” if I tried to retract it while it was inverted. The springs are juuuust strong enough to overcome gravity, but sometimes they lose the battle.

My Infidel and mini-Infidel both work fine. Have never had any problems w/either of them. Bought both used and have no idea how many times they were opened/closed but it certainly is more than 20 by me alone.

Sorry for the problem w/your mini.

My only suggestion is to return it to the seller or dealer who hopefully will accept it for a refund or exchange or send it to BM for warranty repair (which has to be done thru an authorized BM dealer, unless you meet certain exceptions).

Good luck!

I am sorry to hear that! Please call us at 833-557-2526 and we can help you with this!

I've had several of their OTFs and never had an issue with any of them, so I'd definitely say the one you got is subpar.

I have both the mini infidel as well as the full size. While my mini has fortunately never failed me, my full sized needs a bit of finess to deploy about half the time. I don’t have much experience with otfs in general, but I feel that as you come to understand the deployment system of the infidel, you will be able to utilize it to your liking. In my own experience with my full size (although bought second hand so ymmv) you really can feel when it’s going to be a strong release versus a sloppy one, or a failure. 9 times out of 10 or hopefully more, a strong, dramatic, full push forward on the trigger/push mechanism has almost always worked well for me. I am not smart enough to understand or explain the spring technology behind this but I feel as though it’s either a nice, powerful deployment or something you feel when you think you’re going to sneeze and then just sit there in disappointment and confusion. This is the best example I can think of to explain the infidel. Good luck brother

If the top center screws are tight like all the others it can cause this problem. They said to not tighten them too much.
Would have rather been told than send it in and be told in a letter.
