What can you guys tell me about the 97 endura? What generation was it?
The one in question was also apparently apart of the "clip it" series, its got a spyderedge and black g10 handles
Just looking for some input

I have no idea....

But I don't expect too much special...

Thanks!

There was no G10 on Endura handles back in 1997. Perhaps you mean FRN?

Anyway, I have a fully serrated Endura of that vintage. Think I bought it in '98 if memory serves. Great knife and one I EDC'd for several years. Very light for its size with the linerless FRN handles. AUS8 steel. The integral molded clip got bent some years back but still works well enough. These days it rides in my car as a backup/emergency knife.

As far as pegging it for a particular generation, I guess I'd call it gen 2.

Transition from Gen 1 to Gen 3 happened right around 1997, so it could be either. If it has a molded FRN clip, it's a first generation Endura and officially called just a Clipit Endura, but referred to on the forums as an Endura 1. If it has a metal clip held on by a single large hollow bolt, it's a third generation Endura aka here on the forums as the Endura 3.

Molded FRN clip is generally called a first generation, although the mold was changed several times before the the molded clip was dropped in favor of the steel clip with barrel bolt.

One of these ? Top is third gen, bottom is 1st gen. Stainless handle is considered 2nd gen.

FYI the 1st gens had G2, then AUS8; they are both considered 1st gens though. You will see some stamped AUS8A, but its the same steel as AUS8...I don't know if that one was ever really figured out.
