Somewhere along the way I picked up this 44p in excellent condition.
I know very little about this knife and would like to find out more info.

Hey, I got it from Felinevet he might know the history of it. You probably already know the P was for Personal, a knife that the Soldier could buy.

Hi Adam,

Maybe I'll ask Felinevet..good idea.

I saw a couple of these at a recent knife show in beat up condition with a lot of blade loss. They were still being sold for a lot of $$.

Also to add, this was the second pattern of Soldier issued. The first was from 1891 - 1908. Then the one you have through 1951. Vic started using stainless steel in 1923 though I'm not sure if the Soldier was immediately switched to stainless or if it remained
carbon steel for a while.
Yeah, the pricing on these things can be high especially at a show. If the knife shows are anything like the gunshows around here, the private dealers are asking more for used goods than you can buy them new for. So there is probably some haggle room in the pricing.
