I was given 3 victorinox knives today, and I know nothing about them. I still haven't figured out how to do pics yet but, hopefully descriptions will be enough to get an idea what they are....

1) Red scales with silver shield, has 4 pins in the scales. measures 2 1/4 inches closed and has small scissors, one blade and one nail file. on the bottom of the blade it looks like it says victoria.

2) Same knife as above but has no visible pins on the scales and has metal tweezers in one end. This one has no victoria? marking.

3) This knife has red scales and silver shield. it is 3 1/2 inches closed. on one scale it has what appears to be a silver inlay of an old touring car.
this knife has the following tools: on the bottom are a phillips head and a standard head screwdriver and what appears to be a small punch. on top are
the following: one large blade, one small blade, scissors, nail file, and what appears to be a small can opener and a bottle opener.

I will work on getting pictures. any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks Mike

What are the scales made of? is it the same as other vic saks? (i.e. cellidor, or, basically, hard plastic)
Is the shield the same as the normal vic shield?
Are the tweezers the standard vic ones?
how many layers are the knives?

JNFGambler has an ebay shop with loads of unusual vic models - do you see yours there?

The first one sounds like a "classic", but unless the scales are metal (like this), the pins on the scales are odd.
The second definately sounds like a 'classic' in cellidor: see this image

the 3rd is a mystery to me, though it could be a mountaineer?

The third knife is called the Victorinox Grand Prix. It is essentially a Mountaineer but the GP has a screwdriver in place of a corkscrew, no hook and, sometimes, no keyring. That model is retired and somewhat collectible among SAK lovers.

Thanks for the link, and the info... The one with the tweezers definetly matches the classic, the other one with the pins is the smae size and the scales are definetely red plastic. This one appears to be fairly old. Thanks again for the help..

Thanks for the info.. This one has no key ring on it. I know nothing about saks except what I've learned in this forum. I can see that it would be a long undertaking learning about them. The more I play with them though, they really are interesting and well made knives...

Thanks ... I can now see that these could be kinda addictive. I never knew that there were so many variations ..

Lots of variations and addictive. If you really want to become a junky, take a look at smartknives.com. A great place for seeing or reading about variations past and present.

I am going there in just a little while.. should be interesting to see some more variations... thanks for the link . I watched a great show on Victorinox that was on the history channel I think. Great hour long show.

p.s the more I play with the grand prix knife, the more impressed I am with the workmanship. amazing that they can produce a product of this quality and with all these features and sell them for the price they do..
