I am new to this site, this is my first posting. I have already looked at the factory and Bad Mojo's great site. Are there any others that explain the history of these knives. I'm looking to purchase one to use.

Thanks for your time.

Will try to look for the beer over here. Don't dont really have a good selection over here. That is the problem living in a little grass shack

Seriously, I have been looking for a complete listing of the knives and any info related to the options.

I have been lurking on this website trying to take in all of this information. Seems that the Busse owners are a loyal bunch. I have been trying to find one that I like. There arent any big knife shows around here, I would need to take a trip to sample these knives.

thanks again

Balrog, welcome to the Busse forum.

This is what I understand the history to be (fogged by Mabel, and very abbreviated)...

Jerry started making knives in the early 80's, perfecting his style through the years.

In 1992, he started Busse Combat Knife Company.

He used many steels and heat treats, trying to find just the right combination that would produce a tough knife, one that could stand up to the widely varying demands of field, tactical, rescue, and combat use.

He evolved the Busse line into several models that fit this bill, including the Steel Heart, the Badger Attack, Mean Street, Police Recruit, Combat Recruit.

In the mid to late 90's, Jerry came up with INFI, a steel (actually more than just a steel, more a steel and heat/cyro treatment package).

Out came the Battle Mistress, fully INFI. Other models were transitioned over to INFI.

Some models changed (actually, the names were kept) to reflect evolution as well as to allow variety with commonality. By this, I mean that several models could be styled with the same handle configuration, but different blade designs.

All this time, Jerry was cranking out one-of-a-kinds, commonly known as "variants". He would take a standard model, then toss on some tricked out grinds and/or features.

With numerous contracts with law enforcement, military, and S&R teams some offerings came from over-runs.

There is much much more, but I don't think the forum has room for all the details.

If you have any specific questions, we would be glad to answer them.

You are right on the Busse loyalty. There is a great connectivity between users and collectors alike. Very much family.

You will see in some threads, that there is more to Busse than just nuclear tough knives.

Good hearted ribbing, silliness, and varying viewpoints, but a lot of fun.

The crowd is a big cross section of users. Almost every profession is represented by the folks here. Some post on a regular basis, some occasionally, some just quietly hangout.

All are welcome.

If you want, I can send a couple docs with INFI info.

Let us know how we can help.

Mike

Hello Balrog,
Welcome to the Busse forum, glad you stopped by.

I hope you stick around and join in our discussions, and don't worry if you don't understand everything at first, most of us really don't know what we are talking about. ;)

:D:d

Sounds like you need to head the team on writing the coffee table book history of the Co. Mike. :D
