Found this guy pretty beat up in a charity bin at the airport, looks like the someone used a power-stone to sharpen the main blade, but the spay and pipe-reamer seam to be in good condition. I'm also assuming there should be a badge of some sort on the scale. Is there any way to date this? not sure I'll keep it as it doesn't seem to have much life life in it.

Thanks for looking!

Take a look at the last page of this .pdf :here, or post a better picture of the tang stamp.

By the way, provided that the heat treat wasn't ruined it should have another couple of decades of use left in it.

hope I could help.

I have an older Boker stockman, with no shield and just

BOKER
USA

stamped on the main blade. No idea of age, but they don't have to have a shield.

Thanks for the link stockman, looks like mine is stamp #20 on that list, so it's not all that old I guess. There does look to be some discoloration on the tip, so I suspect at least part of the blade got too hot, either way, it's been sharpened at a rather obtuse angle, so getting it back to usable for me would take too much work.

That's definitely a keeper. If that's not a user, what is?

is there any way to to get the main blade to close "lower" right now it is just flush with the scale and I think that if I re-profile it to my liking it will be waving in the breeze. it looks longer than it is in that photo, its been ground way down.

Carefully sand down the kick until the blade rests fully inside the frame. Lots of life left in that one.

Yes looks like plenty of use to be had out of that, I like the punch blade. I reckon Böker would send you a shield if you got in touch with them, you could ask over at the Böker forum for details.

I guess we'll see what happens with it. worst comes to worst, I'll add it to my trade thread, or send it to someone who will appreciate it.

I recently found a Schrade 34OT on the ground. It has a broken Sheepsfoot blade. Someone decided it was useless and simply tossed it on the ground.
When I found it, it was beginning to rust and with the broken blade I bet most people would have left it. I cleaned it up, sharpened it and made the broken blade usable and it is now one of my favorite users.
This may be the same for you.

True, I have no idea how old the king cutter I just picked up is, but then it has only seen a little use. I'd like to use it, but I feel like it will get lost in the pile with knives that have more life, or more mileage that I've put on them. Then again, I make no sense, right now I'm cleaning what seems to be tile grout out of a Vic Soldier(01) so I can carry it, when the other soldier(79) I picked up just needs some work on the main blade to be usable, and is more beefy. I also seem to just carry more knives instead of rotating them. it's an addiction.
