I recently puchased a new folder with a brand name that I have never heard of before and was hoping someone could enlighten me.

The knife is marked "Fighter" at the base of the bladewith "stainless steel" underneath of it. There are no other marks on the knife that I have seen.

For the $15.00 that I paid for it, it is a really nice piece. The pouch that came with it is well made also. It can be carried horizontally or vertically, with the inside material being a softer type than the more durable outside.

It is a 3 1\4" blade with a 4 1\2" handle. There is 2" of stainless bolster with brass pinned wood (I have no clue what type, other than being very dark)finishing up the rest. The wood swells at the butt with a brass thonghole.

I was looking at the thread that JHChop posted called "Info of MOKI anyone and Griffon had posted a link to a site that shows a picture of the Moki "Perfect Thuja". The first knife on that page "Pliant Thuja" is the exact same as the one I have here in front of me.

If anyone could help with more on this brandand where Icould find more of their product, I would apppreciate it.

Thank you. Andy

For $15 new?

A new Moki knock-off from a nameless company in the PRC?

After I saw the pics in the Moki thread I was wondering about that. But this is a lot cleaner and nicer than most of the china and pakistan stuff that normally floats around. Everything is even and clean, nothing sticking out or uneven. It had a good, clean edge with no burrs or blemishes. Sharp right up front and holds that edge nicely. I have no clue.

I got out a Moki 101K for a closer look, and I did a couple of fresh scans which I posted over in the Moki thread.

If it was a Moki, it would presuably say so, and it would probably not say "fighter" on it. Now why would somebody call what is clearly a gentleperson's knife, even with another 3/4" of blade on it, a "fighter"?

Probably because somebody thought it would sell better that way.

There are some knife companies in Taiwan that do credible work for not all that much money, so if you combine that source with a dealer who's trying to sell below cost and make it up on volume ....

James, You are correct, that is basically what it looks like. The main 3 differences are stainless liners instead of the brass on the 101, mine has 3 brass pins in the wood (1 a quarter inch down from the bolsters, the other two at the butt on either side of the thong hole)and where yours is stamped MOKI, mine is stamped "fighter". There is no marking on it anywhere to say that it is an overseas product (I'm not sure whether that is still required or not).

Averageguy, I picked it up from a gentleman down at one of the local flea markets that runs a regular booth there selling knives. He carries actual brand name products there and not the cheap stuff that every other dealer in the place has ( 7 buck "tacticals" and 15 dollar autos). This was just something that caught my eye as a nice looking piece with some quality behind it.
