Hi,
I need some info about a early clipless sebenza marked with a "p".

Thanks in advance for all the helpful info.

I should be more specific.

Does the "P" mean prototype, pre-production or production?

Were there any sebenzas ever made in South Africa?

It doesn't have a clip nor is drilled for one, does that give any age or indication?

(Maybe I need a Sebenza family tree or genealogy)

What is it worth, in mint condition?

Thanks,
Scott

I think it goes like this earliet to latest (May be in the FAQ at top of page) P = Production

H(numbered)
P(numbered)
P
No mark other than CRK logo.

Value somewhere greater than regular ones, but not as much as the handmade.

stratocaster,

I have one of these P sebenzas. It's dated in 1993. I think the coolest thing about it is that it has no clip. I have the box and all the papers and a note from CR stating why he decided to stop serial numbering them. Something about costs and the fact that all the collectors that wanted a numbered one had theirs and that numbering them any further wouldn't make much sense since the knives were made to 'use'.

By the way..You are quite a cool guitar.

When CRK switched from the original style (ats34) to the regular style around 1996, the first ones were numbered on the rear of the front slab.
All of the regular style were supposed to be BG42 but some early ones were made with left over ats34.

hi,
I'm planning on buying a sebenza
It's a 1994 P sebenza with a clip and a ats34 blade and has the 'p' next to the CR logo
My questions are the following;
Did Chris Reeve make those knives with the Phosphorous-Bronze washers?
If i wanted to, could I order a s30v blade (for a classic MM) and would the lock be as tight as any other Sebenza?
Actually what I want to know is, are the new classics exactly the same as the old 'p' Sebenza's aside from the s30v blade.

tnx
