Have a set of hunting knives that were my dad's from Germany about 35 years ago. This is a double set in one sheath, 1 on top of the other. They look like stag handles, 1 is about 4 1/2 inches long the other is about 7 inches in length. Both have what look like caribou carving in the handles. I am trying to find any info on these knives because I just found the same type of pair only larger version from same maker. Any help would be appreciated. Sorry I don't have access to pictures at this time.
Thanks

Hi,

Baron seem's to be one of the many brands imported here after WWII. I've seen a few pieces by this maker, most were Carving/Silverware set's or Export style fixed blades. The double set (Hunter/trout knife) seem's to have been popular here.

For more info, repost this in Bernard Levine's forum:).

Hello All, I have a M1902 Saber marked "Baron Solingen Germany". I have had it many years and few could really give me accurate information on it. Recently, I found a reference guide online by Googling German BladeSmiths and up came a site with a reference manual, "German Bladesmiths" by Author John Walter, Nevill Publishing 2012, and recently updated edition 28 February 2013. It lists Baron (1895, No. 3554: Gottfried Weyersberg Sohne, Solingen Registry Class: 9b Style: Roman). Apparently, knives were made with this label until 1970. My Saber is roughly dated between WW1 and WW2, by materials and historical family recall. Baron also made many M1902 Sabers (Modified) for the Philippine Constables 1909-1911.

I hope this helps as I have found many wishing additional information (Including Myself) and little has been or seems available on the internet.

This is a very old thread, but I'll leave this here for the added info.

However, the OP hasn't logged in for over a decade. And the second poster has not logged in for the last six years.
