Since I couldn't probably get a permit for a Mac-10 or Mac-11 here in Finland, I've been thinking about getting a deactivated one just as a toy. Could anyone advise me, where could I get one? What would be the ballpark they're in? Do deactivated ones usually have any moving parts to play with? Thanks.

I'm not sure on this, but I think that there is currently no such thing.

In the '60's, they sold DEWATS (DEactivated War TrophieS); these were military arms with the chambers welded shut. It was easy enough to change out the bbls. and have a functional weapon, so that practice was stopped.

I have seen some autos advertised, mainly Thompsons, but these have a completely new, solid, receiver, and no moving parts in it, so it can't be converted. These may be the only ones available, and I don't recall seeing any MACs in the ads. Walt

Hello Jani! (or maybe Terve??)

I think that you should check in the UK, they have a lot of de-activated firearms there.

The laws in Sweden concerning de-act. is that you still need a permit for it and that you still have to keep it looked up and so on, it's still concidered a firearm.
There was several Japanese manufacturers that made VERY good copies of firearms a few years ago, they are no longer made.
There are a few nice replicas out there but usually they are of poor quality.
I have a Mac-11 made in Spain and it sucks

You might want to check out soft-air guns out, if you just want the look they are very accurate.

Feel free to contact me if there are any other questions, i feel that i might be going on rambling here for quite some time...

How about the air gun replicas. They shoot the plastic bb. I know I've seen the MP-5s and they look very real. Metal parts and all. Approx $300,00 I think. Maybe there is a MAC.

Do a search(browser search not BF) for air guns and air soft airguns.
Air Soft makes very realistic replicas of real guns. About the only difference is they shoot plastic bbs, using some type of compressed gas. I think you can even get them full auto, although I'd imagine that would use up the little canisters of gas pretty fast, and they weren't real cheap last time I saw them.

Thanks for the replies, all! (Heja, Jonas!)

I have a Ruger K85 (or whatever) that shoots plastic BB's. Me and my friend sometimes shoot each other with them and I've been thinking about getting a MAC-10 since the single shot handguns aren't no match for the full-autos. I called a couple of gun stores and they said there that they could order a real MAC-10 and have it deactivated for me but I can't afford that.

Hej Jani!

Check this out: http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/

And this: http://www.targedon.com/

And this: http://www.mfiap.com/airsoft/main_smg.htm
I know that there are native shops that carry the same stuff, but i didn't find the link right now, these are cool "guns" are very fun to "play" with.
Some of'em even disassembly very much as the real guns do.

Lemme know how it turns out!
