Hi Guys
Has anyone ever orderd anything from Discount knives. i want to buy a crawford casper from them but i have never used them before anyone have anything to share Thanks in advance Tim

I would recommend checking the "Good, Bad, & Ugly" forum. I have ordered from them once, and service was quick and professional. I HAVE heard various things about not enough, or any, feedback if you order online. And, IME, it has been impossible to get in touch with them by phone. I haven't tried in a long time, though.

Definitely check the GB&U forum.

My first internet purchase was from them. An AFCK and a Panther Clip point.

Contacting was tough as mentioned, but service and price was good.

In my experience, they are excellent. Of course, I had no problems with my order, but I guess that's sort of the point. Check out TGBU forums, though. I would order from them again.

I have made several purchases from discount knives, they are by far the quickest to ship of any online company I have seen, if they are out of stock on any item, they will e-mail you and let you know when they will be getting them in, and if you still want to wait for them, they never charge your card until the knife ships, which I like.
they are my favorite online knife store.

I just got my first order from them. everything went perfect, delivery less than a week after my order was placed. don't think they do a lot of "personal service" but my order was great!

My experiences are that the prices are good, the service is quick and you don't even think about getting them via telephone.

In my most recent order, Brian emailed me back with the availability and price confirmation; sent me an email when it shipped (quickly after the order was placed) and I got the knife a couple of days later for the price and shipping quoted. I have purchased other knives from him with a similar level of service.

Did I mention that you shouldn't even try to reach him via telephone?

In my experience, it's up and down, depends on the star. . .

Some times it can be so good, quick response, reply all your eMail, offer you a great price, deliver quick and on time.
But some times it can be totally the opposite.

. . .Hope this help.

I have placed about a dozen orders with Brian over the past few years. I have been impressed with the prompt and accurate service. I have not had one single problem.

With that said, Brian runs a one man operation, and it is NOT a good idea to try and talk to him on the phone to discuss your purchase. Decide what you want before you order. You don't go into a high volume discount photo store and ask the guy behind the counter to show you a bunch of different cameras and explain their features do you?

Remember: you can't get through to Brian on the phone because he is helping someone else! He is diligent about answering the phone; I once, before I realized how busy he was, called him up to ask some questions. He was doing his cardiovascular walk at the time, and was answering via a cell phone!

There have been some negative posts in GB&U, but invariably the circumstances turn out to be somewhat different than the complaining party first reported them.

Hope this helps, Walt

I have had good and bad experiences with them...usually good. They do have the biggest selection I know of.

I had a disagreement with him a few years ago, I found him rude and very curt. I do not doubt he is trustworthy and honest, but I do not care for this style of service. I can get better elsewhere, try Mike Payne I think he is doing CRKT now.

My 2 cents. . .

I ordered about 20 folders from Brian during 98-End of 99. Fast, great prices, no problem whatsoever.

But after that, few things started to happen. . .like mis-calculated the total price and I have to asked for refund (These happened twice.). . .No informing of the not-in-stock item, keep we wait and wait (These happened many times). . .No Email reply, though I sent, and re-sent as many as 5 of the same question. . .

So, I thought I'll be better off order it from somebedy else. May be a bit more expensive, but I'd enjoy the service.

If he's too busy doing a one-man-show, may be it's worth having a few staffs? Since it seems that he's got lot of orders?

I purchase from Brian Skelton at discountknives quite often.

Good prices, and excellent service IMO. Always get an e-mail response from him too.

Wish I could say the same about Mike and 1STOP.

I NEVER get an e-mail response from 1STOP.

If I did, I would probably buy from 1STOP more often.
