Thanks guys, I don't know if it was worth the money to anyone else but me but I really like it. I could have sworn that I saw something about her here on the forum, but a search came up empty.
Oh, isn't her name Doris? (one R)?
Nice skinner Dave. You just like those 103's don't you?![]()
Yep, especially the fancy ones. Like this one that was a gift to me from my good buddy postfallidaho (Jim). Thanks again!
The 103 Buck is such a great design.![]()
LOL,if I had a 103 that pretty I'd wear it to church on Sundays. That knife is a beauty!!!Thanks to everyone for their input. I've found some info on the web, but not a large amount so evey bit helps. I think it's a pretty handsome skinner and not too overdone. I've been wondering if she also did the little slippie below. I looks like it could have been done by the same artisan.

/I just bought a beautiful 103 done by Doris Yazzie and I know nothing about her. Can anyone give me any information about her and her work. From the pictures it looks really nice.

Dave, as has already been indicated, she is a Navajo craftsman, living in Arizona, who specializes in custom knives and jewelry for the tourist trade. As you may have noted, her work closely resembles that of David Yellowhorse and that is because she used to work for David before she struck out on her own. In fact, much of her work is stamped "DY" which is frequently mistaken to be that of David Yellowhorse, and more than one of her knives mas been sold as a "Yellowhorse."
