Ok, I'm lazy,
ran two poor searches and came up dry.
So its opinion you get.
EK knife company is back in business. Somehow their website is kind of hard to find but I saw it on the froums here a while ago.
Oh wait, here it is!!!;
http://www.ekknife.com/
I've had the bug for these for a long time.
Eks were pretty much the first knives that I had an irrational desire to collect more of. Ive had 3 of them and thats only with discipline.
Really wish I had picked up the little scuba/UDT model they had when I had the chance.
I'm partial to the bowie design, cord wrapped. Black or green.
Some of the Desert Storm models had very attractive wraps and blade treatments.
Not too long ago I sharpened the back clip on my single edged bowie.
Smoothed right up like it was meant to be.
Steel is pretty easy to sharpen. I dont beat mine up too much but I imagine its on a par with the Kabar. Nothing too fancy.
Dont think it would make a good prybar till after you broke the tip off of it.
EKs are great fighters. They have a generous handle and balance and move well. I used to have a problem with my girlfriend spinning mine around and dropping it while I was gone. Id have to inspect her for cuts when I came home. Its still her favorite knife.
Got some pictures but I cant load em.
You'll find some.
Prices on older models are going up fast.
John EK was a stud, his early knives were only issued to soldiers and numbered for varification. Typically they had no gaurd were wood handled with poured lead rivets.....
When asked about knife slippage he reputedly plunged his hand into some axle grease and stabbed his knife so hard into the barracks floor that it could not be removed by hand.
Now how hard core is that??
