i need some info on the kershaw ET, looking to purchase a used one in good condition. if you have one please tell me if it is worth it.

I have one and am quite pleased with it. However, I'm a believer in using a particular knife design for the job it was intended or for the job at hand. It's a great camping and climbing knife, and the steel is pretty good as well, and easy to sharpen. If I'm field dressing or the like, it's not the knife I use.

It's worth it, it's not a novelty and it's not as hard to master as people will lead you to believe. Flippin a bali takes considerably more skill than opening an ET with your ring finger.

if your intent is to get it to flick it open with your pinky finger expertly to everyone, it's a novelty knife...if you're looking for a different knife with a unique lock, it is as effective and lethal as any other "normal" locking folder.

I can open it with my ring finger in a manner (fairly slow with no wrist action) that isn't fancy/flashy, how does the opening method make it a novelty? Is flicking open a BM Axis lock relegate it to novelty status?

i think it is worth the money! :) i don't think it's the knife for heavy work. to me it seems to be very light for it's size. i even wear it on a dog tag chain!:D

i can opening only slowly also with the pinky, but i don't like doing it; i pretty much open it by grabbing the blade and flicking.

the ET does have unique ways to open it. if you want to showboat your opening skills with an ET or axis lock to everyone; yeah, that's a novelty act. the knife just became a prop not a tool.

...as a prop or a tool, buy the ET for whatever you need it for. or not.

Wow, I guess I ought to tone down my image since I prefer the ease of the ring finger opener. I had no idea I was impressing myself so much since I used it primarily alone, around the house and at work in the store room. From now on i'll have to be cognizant of impressing my dog when I go to open her dog food bags.
