Cleaning out some of my wife's father's old papers and stuff, we found one of his razors, and I was wondering if anyone here might help identify it and tell us if it has any collector's value.

The brand name is "Clauss." It has a black celluloid (?) handle, and appears t be in very good condition, with no nicks or rust on the blade, The cardboard box that it was in appears to be the one that it came in new, but it is so scuffed that only the name "Clauss" is readable. There is some other printing on the box. but it is unreadable.

If anyone has any information on this razor, I would appreciate it.

i have heard of the clauss brand before.

I dont have any specific info about the company but they do make good razors and you should be able to get a fantastic shave off of it once it is hones up properly.

Clauss, Fremont, Ohio founded in 1887, no longer make razors be came part of ALCO Standard Corp prior to 1990's, now part of Acme United. FYI, Acme United did not retain any of the Fremont, Ohio records so they know nothing about the history as I tried to find out a little while back. Acme still makes scissors and shears and has a Clauss division.
