I recently bought a pilot survival knife-polished blade, pommel, and guard. No dates on pommel or guard, blade marked "Camillus, New York U.S.A. " Box is wood-grained -end says "Camillus has the edge" along with co. name and address. I assume this is a civilian version of the Camillus pilot survival knife. Any info on dates of manufacture for this knife or other info would be appreciated. I bought the knife to use not as a collectable so my interest is just curiosity-my other Camillus knives are of the boy scout variety...It is a real nice knife.

Howdy, Festus. Welcome to the forum. My favorite Camillus knife. Here is a link that may help. My own high polished ASEK (pilots knife) is dated 11/1968. Cool knife.

Here is a link to the discussion the last time this was brought up here.

And while I am at it, Camillus made some of these for other companies. Here is one from the 'John Wayne at War' series, by United Cutlery. No fullers on this one (blood grooves), making it a 'platform knife' for fancy etching.

Thanks for the reply-there was lot's of good information in your posted links. My knife is identical to the parkerized version with same blade profile and blood grooves-just not dated. I'll assume it's a civilian model dated 1985-1990-that's enough information for me. The polished version is a real nice knife..

Yer welcome. Stop in any of the forums with any question you ever have, and you'll get a quick answer.
