Hello Everyone,
Relodr36 said that I should post a photo of a Schrade log/timber scribe that I own. Any info would be greatly appreciated. The only stamping on it is

SCHRADE
WALDEN
NY

Thanks

Crow Butte,
Nice handles on that one, they look almost new. These were used to scribe markings in wooden barrels and crates, and sometimes on boats. You would use it on the pull stroke to take a gouge out of the board. Certain marks for destinations , ownership, etc. were used.Levines guide has a nice little write up on them.New York Knife Company had a really popular model, which is where this knife probably descended from.

Thanks ea42 for the information. I reallize that it doesn't really fit in with a knife forum. Got it off ebay before all the Schrade hoopla. I collect woodworking tools, also, so this was a 2-way addition to my collections. Again many thanks.

Thanks for posting it.If it was made by Schrade I'm interested and so are most of the others.Would like to see more of your woodworking tools.Arnold

Thanks,
Arnold, I was just in San Antonio this past weekend. Had my youngest son graduate from Air Force boot camp. I was sure was not used to the heat mixed with humidity. Beautiful city, though.
Max

Congratulations on your son.I always felt sorry for the poor boots that got sent here.Bad time of the year to be here.Arnold

Max,
That's a nice Schrade collectible, and pretty rare in my opinion.
If lt532 was still on the forum,he could likely date it pretty close and post some pictures of the mint ones in his collection.
I checked my Belknap catalogs back to 1950 with no results.I'd bet those type knives went out of use in the 1930's or earlier.
I'll bet you have some more Schrade goodies stashed away!:D
