I usually drop by the local screw emporium and try the sizes to determine the right thread pattern when it comes to lost screws (especially the small sizes - hard to get the index in the nuts).

It's a PITA, but I've had it with buying the wrong size/length/grade.

Its hard to say on some knives. They look like 2-56 size sockethead screws if you are speaking of the two smaller ones. If the knife is made in the USA there is a high probability that is what they are.

If Japan or Taiwan is where its made it is hit or miss. They could be 0-80 size screws. Sometimes the Japanese and some of the other knives from China and Taiwan use an odd ball size I've never been able to figure out. If its one of those best bet would be to just rethread it for a good ole common USA size and go with that. You can sometimes tell what the size is by the wrench needed for it. If its a T-5 Torx for example it is probably the smaller 0-80 size. If T-6 it is most likely a 2-56 but this is not always the case. Some 2-56 for example take T-7 and then the socket head type screws are usually going to be bigger in wrench size anyway than the same size in a button head or flat head screw will be.

There is also the length factor to be considered. The screws come in 1/4" and 1/2" length from most places. If it is in between that in length you'll have to custom fit them in that way also.
