Just recently acquired two Spyderco Kopas, beautiful gentlemen's folders. One is the Giraffe bone handle-inlayed model C92GBP -- probably one of the better-known and most sought after models (how cool is it to own a knife made with a piece of bone from the tallest land animal.. on Earth!!) -- and the other is the Squash Bone C92SQP. I was hoping to get more info on the Squash bone version. It's a beautiful knife, but in online searches, Spyderco's catalog site: http://www.spyderco.com/catalog/details.php?product=412 & here on the forum I haven't been able to learn too much about the Squash bone material. This may sound funny, but as far as I know there is no animal called a "Squash" (it's either a plant or a sport :p), so is this a synthetic material or perhaps some generic animal bone processed in a special way?

Appreciate any insights, here's some pictures:

I think that you will find that it is a bone inlay that is the color of squash.

From the page you linked:

"The bone is dyed squash colored . . ."

Doesn't seem to be much story to this particular model of the Kopa series.. :/ hah, just enjoy having more than a few unique talking points about each knife I come to own I guess..:D
