Hello all,
I am needing info on an upcoming purchase. I have looked at the BM 47 and am wanting to know if there is a good value for the dollar when buying one. This represents my first Balisong purchase outside of Luzon. Pros? Cons?

Thanks

Any Benchmade balisong will outlast most other balisongs by YEARS. The only other quality balisongs out there right now are Benchmade, Microtech Tachyon, which no one has ever seen and is more expensive, and the Monarch, which I've heard a few complaints about their value. The Monarch costs a bit more than a Benchmade and doesn't have the quality of fit and finish that Benchmade has developed after years of making these things.

I think you'd be happy with any of the new Benchmade models since you are stepping out of the FHM family of Balisongs. The quality is really very good on all the new models BM is putting out, and hard (or maybe impossible) to match for the dollar. The 47 is a nice choice.., but I also like the 42's and 43's also.

The feel will obviously be quite a bit divergent from what you are used to simply because of weight. The Titanium handles do make for a very different feel if you have handled heavier Balis for many years.

Let us know what you think when you get a BM....and have fun!

Benchmade is a all around great bali. I have both a mod 42 and 47, I've found the 47 to be just a tad heavier at the blade than the 42 and just a little bit slower in flippin'. I don't think you'll be disappointed with either;)
