I traded a schrade uncle Henry lb7 and a gerber multitool for this today.
The knife is marked Balisong in the butterfly logo, BENCHMADE U.S.A.
It has no pocket clip. Unused unacrried never sharpened, no box.
Can you give me more information on this knife all I can find is info on the ones with pocket clips and they look a little different.
Thank you!

All I know it’s an older model BM auto and they pop up on the Exchange from time to time. You may get more info posting this in the Automatic Knife forum/thread...more knowledgeable members will probably see it and help you out.

That's a fine looking Benchmade spike, I'm not sure of the model number or date of manufacture but it was around the 80's with ATS-34 steel blade. Them came in large and small, Ps and plain blades. Nice blade for sure and fairly rare in this condition.

Benchmades used to say Balisong on them in the past instead of Benchmade. So yes it is an old Benchmade Auto Spike.

If you search for Benchmade Spike you can probably get alot of info.

Love the retro benchmades there was no standard back in those days. Working with a knifes individual characteristics was a unique and enjoyable part of every design and its owner. Todays defensive folder is well thought out and justified, but those vintage designs that defined them have somethings todays don't. Benchmade should release a v class of vintage reissues for those of us who grew up back in the bailisong days but were just broke kids.

The Spike in its auto and manual form were some of the first heavily counterfeited production knives. This may be a reason it went away and hasn't come back.
