That looks like a Japan made Seto knife that James Parker was importing about 15 years ago, before he ran into problems with customs. At the time they were selling for about $25. Now for various reasons they retail around $50. They are still available in Japan, but they have the price pushed up higher than what most people feel they are worth. The reason is, the kids in Japan were getting a bit crazy with the butterfly knives, so they decided to limit their sale.

If it were not for all the problems with customs, I think Seto would be giving the Bear butterfly company a good run for their money right now. Although if anything it would improve sales, because if we had some decent butterfly knives available to us, more people would get interested in collecting them. Thanks, JohnR7

>>R those for sale or you just want to make us (read:me) drool?

Just want to make you drool. Like I said, they had some problems over in Japan with the kids getting stupid with the butterfly knives. So they raised the prices on them quite a bit. This limits the number of people who have them, but it causes the manufactor to still make their money. Seto sent me their catalog, but they told me they do not ship overseas.

Right now, no one in Japan seems to want to help us to get any and if they did, the price would be way to high. We would be paying $60 top $80 for something that is worth maybe $25 or $30 Thanks, JohnR7

Personally, I'd rather pay 60-80 for a Seto or Taylor than 30-40 for a Bear. I own a Taylor and it is a beautiful piece. There is something a bit more classy about a Japanese made knife than a Bear or jag. As is is I pay 60-80 or more for Used Taylors, I'd gladly pay it for new ones.

I can use all of them .. but it will cost a lifetime saving (I mean when I am in my 70's

Thanks John ..
