Can anyone tell me what these were issued for?

One is the Burma Star,I cant remember what the other one is called.Thanks.
 
And to quote uncle Bill,'what does it have to do with khukuris?' They were issued to a Ghorkha.

This was discussed here before,it is sad these men had to sell their awards,but i guess now they will be treated with respect rather than used to decorate someones home.

  1. Are these medals issued to those survived only?
  2. Did they received any monetary rewards as well?[/list=a]

    ... long time ago I did watched a picture with title "A Hero Too Late" --- something about WW I if I'm not mistaken.

Any other inscriptions on the round one? Sorry, I can not make out any of the inscription in your photo.

Round medal is 1939-45 War Medal. Inscription on obverse is "GEORGIVS VI G BR OMN REX ET INDIAE IMP", Latin for "George VI King of all Great Britain and Emperor of India", same basic design as this 1940 Indian rupee

but for heroism you get Latin, for commerce English
