Appreciate info on the maker's history, type/use of sword and appox date of manuf.

Sorry no scabbard. Straight pointed blade 29 1/4” long and no apparent etching on blade.

Thanks for any input.

1882 I would be guessing the state of Germany or Belgium, or others for that matter (the crown over the A and other mark). An infantry officers sword of an 1850s French pattern. It is not a French sword, as they adopted a different pattern. No scabbard points to a leather one that fell apart.

Post over at http://www.swordforum.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?11-Antique-amp-Military-Sword-Forum and seek out Dale Martin, as he had described one of these to me years ago but I cannot find the thread there (it was several years ago). That one had been a presentation from one officer two another and iirc, was the Franco/Prussian war period.

I like the multi fuller types and have encountered only a few in good shape.

Cheers
