Found a 921s for sale at a local hardware store, was a Pre-Production model, number 71/1000. Anyone familiar with these?

S30V main blade and a secondary in 440c, it's an interesting knife (an Osborne design) along the same size as a 940. Many prefer a plain edged blade, but if the hardware store is offering it at a good price I'd go for it.

Mmmmmm....... $170 seems a bit high to me, no?
If I was to buy it, it would be only to flip it, not a design I am interested in personally. Just seemed rare.

1. Yes $170 is a little too high. Maybe if it had the original box, but even then.

2. IMO coming here to ask for our thoughts on a Benchmade knife with the intention to 'flip it' is an insult, but now we know better.

3. I'm done now.

I agree with nos. 2 & 3.

They are nice knives, a good hybrid between a gentleman's knife and a tactical folder. I am carrying mine at the moment.

Gents: I just talked to the OP via PM and believe I made a mistake in my judgement. His reason in asking about the knife was for good reason and has to to with furthering his education, which is very honorable. I offered there and offer apologies here...in suggesting there were insults of any kind. I rarely go after anyone, but in years of collecting have run across members (and on other Forums) that WOULD pump us for info and prices simply to make that buck.

This is in part of my response via PM:

"Hope we can find peace. Your intention is to pay for schooling, which explains your interest in making some spare cash. That's completely legit and I offer an apology then. I've been around Benchmades and heck, knives all my life and there are more than a few hucksters who don't have a plan other than to get info from more knowledgeable people and then go running to eBay to make a quick sale. That does not sound like what you were after."

We all make mistakes in judgement and I was wrong. Now let's move on thanks.

Joe
