Just acquired a Buck 321 pocket knife and it is strange. It has a long, skinny blade and a "hook" of some kind as well. Can someone inform me a bit more about this knife?

According to one website, it was a knife discontinued over 10 years ago called the "Bird" knife. It has a narrow blade and a guthook.

Hope that helps, welcome to the forums :)

I've made those types of gut hooks using a coat hanger. What you do is insert the hook through the birds anus, turn the hook 180 deg. and gently pull. You will get the lower guts and if you are lucky you will get the heart and lungs. This method for me is unreliable. I have better luck making a small incision laterally from the anus and removing the guts and chest organs with my fingers.

I'm thinking maybe I might like to start collecting such bird hook type knives. Could you post a pic of the knife?
