Hi everybody!
May be somebody who likes russian knives will be interested in my info.
Some of the Zlatoust knives are available in US. Im talking about ROSArms factory.
You can buy it on ebay.com ( stores.ebay.com/zlatousts-handmade-knives ) and soon all information will be posted on www.rusknives.com This internet site is under construction now, but will be done next week.
So, I would like to answer for most common questions about these knives:
1. Steel. They are using ball-bearing steel which is designed for precision bearings working without greasing in conditions of heats and excited environments.
C-1.1 Mn-0.5 Si-0.7 Cr-16 Mo-0.8. For people who is not doing very well with chemicals
C- carbon - The mineral that transforms iron into steel. High-carbon steel results when .5 percent or more carbon is present. Only a bare .8+ can be absorbed by the iron, the balance in extremely high carbon steel goes to add hardness.
Mn Manganese - Increases toughness and hardenability.
Cr cromium - Produces hardness and better edge holding when combined with other alloying materials. Used in fairly large amounts, it produces a blade that resists rust. Takes over 12% to produce high-carbon stainless steels.
Mo Molybdenum - Is used to increase hardness in tool steel
So everybody can see and decide now is it good steel or bad.
2. All knives are handmade. 100% truth. Each blade and each handle is done by hand. All knives are unique there are now two identical knives at all! (Even if you will compare two knifes of same model)
3. What is Zlatoust. Zlatoust is a city in Russia. This city manufactures a wide range of hand-made outdoorsman and hunting knives and highly decorated blade articles in the best traditions of Zlatoust armories. Refined blade products of the Urals craftsmen are well known all over the world and have won a great number of awards of famous international exhibitions which appreciated Zlatoust bladesmith at its true worth.
Ok. If you have any questinos pls. feel free to ask me. Also I can provide answers for you from people who make these knives.
Thanks.
