This morning one of my sons gave me this 305 (1988) for a late Fathers Day gift. A very nice like new lancer, there is no side emblem.
Is it a special run or a normal beauty. The covers look to be turquoise.

Thanks
Dave T.

Yes, it is very attractive. The knife has been customized by someone. The scales are not original to the knife.

Dave, it looks to be a 1988 mfg. Lancer with synthetic turquoise handles. Be glad some off-spring appreciates you. DM

Thanks guys, it is a beauty and out of the norm for my group. It feels a bit small for me to carry unfortunately.
Dave I was wondering about the Synthetic part, the back in the second photo shows a repair.

Yes, I can't quite tell what was done. This knife was made at Buck's plant originally. The pins show it was taken apart? Most of the turquoise I've worked with looks like that and is synthetic / man made. The natural type is expensive and fragile. Google synthetic turquoise and you'll find some good info.. DM

Thanks to all, I did Google for some information, as with so many things there is much I do not know. I think it will see some pocket time, as long as I do not loose it.

I suggest sending a photo to Santa Fe Stoneworks and ask if it's something they did. I picked up a pearl and lapis 303 without knowing who the maker was. With some leads here, I emailed photos to Santa Fe and it was one they did. He sent me an original box and paperwork, which was pretty nice of them to do.

They no longer do Bucks because they can no longer order knives without scales from them and it's to much work to remove existing scales to do their work. I don't recall when he said they changed that policy, but they're no longer doing Bucks.
