I purchased a Hytest Plumb 4 1/2 pound axe from the local market
it is an Australian made axe , does anyone have any information on these axes as i cant find much on the internet
thanks

Those are great axes and hold their value well. You were lucky to find one. You don't find many of them in the States. Can you post a pic? Are you looking to sell or trade it?

Agreed with Pegs, rare as can be, worth a good bit of money. I'm in line behind him if it's available! They're usually larger than our American axes, for work with ultra tough wood down under. Made like tanks- nigh indestructible.

will put a few photos up tonight Australian time picked the Axe up for $5.00 sounds like I got quite a bargain
i have a Hytest and a USA Plumb but this is the first Australian made hytest/Plumb I have seen

Thanks Steve that's the only information i could find on this axe as well
having trouble with the photo's , still trying to work out how to get them onto this thread

I did a little digging and found that there was an Australian company named Plumb (W.H. Plumb, not Fayette) that was based in Sydney and made forged tools (such as wrenches, chisels, anvil stakes). So perhaps this Australian Plumb company had ownership of Hytest at some point, totally unrelated to the Plumb company in the USA.

Hi, I have just bought a few axes and noticed that the HYTEST has tools written with two s’s. Was wondering if anyone knew if it was rare or not?
Thanks
