Does anyone have any information on the reformed schrade company?
Are they beck in business and selling knives yet?

Any info would be helpful.
Thanks,
Mike

I don't think there is such a thing. I read in Knives Illustrated that the name and designs were sold to Taylor. The unfinished knives to someone else. You can expect to see things with the schrade brands on them but it'll all be parted out. There is no longer a schrade factory, the people and equipment are gone. The only thing that will be left is their name slapped onto another company's product. Supposedly the top guys founded a company called Canal Street, but after 8 months their first knife appears to be a rebadged queen product.

Taylor owns the Schrade brand names now. Taylor has 'new' Schrade knives that are being imported from China, including 'new' OldTimers.

Someone (Camillus? Bear?) is making knives with the Walden Knife Company brand, probably under liscensing from Taylor.

And, as mentioned, some of the guys from the old Schrade have started Canal Street Cutlery. Their first knives are available, a high-end set of traditional-style knives.

Best Wishes,
Bob

Went to the Schrade forum section, did not find any relevant information on
Schrade. Maybe in the archives?

Will keep looking.

Perhaps I should clarify my earlier post. There is no new Schrade company. The copyrighted names and patents have been sold to an import company (Taylor Cutlery). Some of Schrade's ex-employees have started Canal Street Cutlery. The Schrade factory is abandoned. Taylor seems to be licensing the Walden name to an American knife company, but I don't know which one.

You can find more details in the archived Schrade Forum, but I think I've summed it up well. If you're looking for a more detailed post from people with first-hand knowledge, you should start a new topic down in the Schrade Forum. Those guys are cool and are happy to discuss Schrade knives.

Best Wishes,
Bob

Camillus is making the sharpfinger as well as some slipjoints.

They're calling them their "Gran-pa" series. I hate the name but love the knives. All have 1095 steel blades. They even improved the grind on the Sharpfinger. I'm looking forward to getting one.
