Hello;

I have been looking for some up to date information on the old Schrade company, what has happened to it's assets, who bought their trademark and equipment and is anyone making their knives now?

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks, Taz

Taz... I typed in 'July 30' on the search here and found this thread that explains a lot of things.

Lot's of info here in the forum archives about ths subject. You can also type in 'Taylor' and get a bunch of stuff on the present owner of the Schrade IP.

The new knives bearing the Schrade or Old Timer names are 'in name only' kinda deals. One cannot possibly compare a product made by a 100 year old American company with a sense of civic responsibility, by real Americans who paid their taxes, played by the rules, built a fine product, to the present offerings of the mercenary crew who now lay claim to those fine old names.

Both Tactical Knives and Blade did some articles about the demise of Schrade, TK did an in depth article. I'll find out which issues the stories appeared in and post it here.

Two issues of Knives Illustrated had articles on the end of Schrade, I have them both and they are yours if you want them. See my profile for email address and get in touch with me.

Knife World Magazine also had articles, you can visit their website and get a back issue, I imagine.

I posted some Knives Illustrated and Blade magazine issues with info about it. Searching this forum will give you all the info publicly known at this time, and then some. You can also see the current pattern copy of the Sharpfinger done by Camillus, another old school American knife company.

It truly is sad & disturbing when you realise what really happened to Schrade. Thank you lt632ret. Sadly, I don't see a bright future for this country with the way things are going. Too much greed & love of the almighty dollar rearing it's ugly head around us. Along with all the other problems facing this country. As more & more greed & dishonesty replaces honor & integrity, you can count on a bleak outcome down the road. Sad indeed.
