A few years ago I got a knife from my old man and haven't done much with it.

Last night I was helping a buddy butcher up a moose and him and two other guys noted that the knife I got was "neat" and the blade was a shape neither had seen before. I did a bit of looking but haven't found anything that matches so hopefully someone here can fill in some background. I'm not a big knife guy but since my dad can't tell me anything about it maybe some one here can.

The stamp is 4 lines
Buck
Custom
USA
0036

There are two letters on the end of the handle. JK. Or they're a weird looking K.

Appreciate any help.

I don't know the model but did find this from a few years ago on the forums from Gedlicks.

WBC - Wild Bill Cody
JK - John Knapp
LR - Leroy Remer
JY - Juan Yuriart
DD - Dean Davidson
JL - Jeff Legerton
MM - Byron "Mac" McKinney
BM - Bob Miller
JH - Joe Houser

It is a model 951 fillet knife made in Buck's Custom Shop in the early 80's.
Not your everyday item, a knife like this would have only been made to order.
As Makael showed above, JK identifies the maker, John Knapp.
A rare knife. Welcome to the Buck forum and thank you for sharing it with us.

I don't know anything about it, but I am sure someone will be along with some details. But I just wanted to say that looks like a pretty neat Buck custom.

Your model #951 Club Head Fillet Knife is the top one in this picture from a 81/82 catalog.
The bottom knife is the similar model #953 with a more tapered fillet blade.

What you have (I think) is a one of a kind Custom Shop knife I've neverseen that blade profile before. ...There might be a record of who ordered/designed it and when it was delivered. It would really be something if your Dad had it made!

I've not seen that pattern. A 4 digit number indicates a regular custom knife. The stamp to the right of that is likely some craftsman's initials. It's had a rough life. DM
