Hi everyone. The local Masonic Lodge is having a fund raiser the first of the year. I have offered to make a special knife for their raffle. I need to know if anyone out there who forges damascus has ever forged a piece with Masonic symbols in the pattern. If not, would anyone care to give this a try? Thanks. The raffle is for their building fund.

Marcel may I offer a humble suggestion? You might try using a more descriptive title; there are some fantastic damascus makers here who might not see your request simply because of not knowing it might be just for them... And if possible, a sketch of the symbol, since I sure can't dredge it out of my "memory." Just a suggestion offered in good will (with a bit of self interest mixed in; it'd love to see the knife!). Good luck!

one problem solved:)

Thanks Dan. That's what the symbol looks like. Please let me know if anyone might like to give this a try. Thanks.

P.S. I am leaving for a week's vacation in Quebec City. Can't wait. Haven't had a vacation in twelve months.

If you can't get the patern in the steel. Try above the steel. If you go to a sign maker. Some can cut small designs out of plastic sticking
sheet which is used for sign leters. You stick the symbol on the metal and when you etch the blade it leaves the symbol sitting above the level of the blade pattern.

My mark is a turtle. On damascus I sit it on top like described.

Purhaps a but cap style knife would give you another option if all else fails.

Hi:
Just got back from Quebec City. Dan, you don't have to be brave to go there but you have to not mind spending a lot of money. Exchange rate was only .32 on the dollar and everything was too damn expensive. Had a great time anyway. Saw some knives made by Gaetan Beauchamp for sale and others by a guy named Conrad Bondu. They had antler handles carved by his wife and were actually quite reasonable in price. Anyone on the forums know this particular knifemaker?
