Infractions?

I was just given an infraction for posting a link to an eBay auction in a post I had on the for sale forum. This was worth 10 demerits or points or whatever, for an entire year. What does this mean exactly? And how does it affect my experience on the forum? :confused:

Heck - Here's the exact wording.

Infractions
Infractions happen when we've decided that your behavior isn't worth just warning you over and we definately don't want you to continue down that path.

Infractions are worth different point values for different offenses. Infractions can be left for varying time durations and can be set to expire, or to not expire depending on how serious your behavior is.

If you accumulate 50 infraction points, you are banned automatically. You can see how many infraction points you have by checking out your User CP

Some infractions carry with them an automatic banning. Such is life.

The real problem is the cumulative effect if you get more. Having infractions on your record does not change your regular dealings on the forum, although it can lead moderators to hit you with more infraction points rather than warnings for future missteps.
 
Don't worry, it's a mistake. It happens. They are very forgiving on this forum. They are just trying to stop problems before they get out of control.:thumbup:
 
Yes, we try to stop problems before they get out of hand. That's why I just banned Micarter as the troll newuser returning. :thumbdn:

Esav, I saw him on another forum. I don't know what was going on here. He was talking very strange on the other posts. What game was going on here?
 
He is a troll who has been banned numerous times. I've already gotten him 6 times today, trying to sneak back in.

I don't know what is going on, but other guys got banned in the other forum, about tech support. I don't know anything about these guys. I am staying out of those forums, I have nothing to do with them. I didn;t know they were banned. What did those guys do?:confused:
 
Who got banned, and in what forums?

You can go to the Plank Log to check on them. It's the first stickie in Service & Support, and it lists everyone we've banned this month and tells why we banned them.

I think the guys are just fooling around. They are not banned in the sticky, but it says banned under their name in the post. I guess they are just kidding around. In whine and cheese about tech support thread.

if it says banned under their name, and they are not a Gold or Platinum member, they have been banned by one of the moderators.
