I recently inherited a fairly large knife collection and I am new to knife world. I have 100+ Case, 50+ Buck, many Remington, HAWG, Benchmade, etc. Does anyone have a good resource to do some research to understand what I have?

I do have a couple favs already. One of them is this gem, is it rare?

I’d say google is your best friend for the most part.

I’d also say post pictures of all of them you can, the guys here would be happy to help. Myself included.

Get a Gold Membership so you can ask about values, and sell what you don’t plan on keeping. There is a specific forum for modern, traditional, and Buck knives you probably wouldn’t have any issue selling.

Welcome to the forums. And good luck to you

This is the largest knife forum in the world with the most diverse knowledge base available! First thing you should do is buy a gold membership so you can ask about values. Even if you aren't interested in selling anything, the question will inevitably come up even just for informational purposes.

Sign up for a picture hosting service and start snapping pictures. I use imgur.com. It is free and easy on both mobile and computer.

Review the rules here as to not break them. Look around and get a feel for the place. There are lots of specific sections to different types and makers/manufacturers of knives.

Don't get overwhelmed, as it seems you have a lot. Start with one part of the collection and move from there.

Most important, have fun!

Welcome! That first one you posted about sounds nice. Pro Tech is a top quality brand that makes some really nice stuff. Post some pictures of it. We love pictures!

  1. Good move with the Gold membership, it differently is worth it.:) Subscribed to this thread to see some more pictures, thanks for sharing.

I want to see more of this collection and with the gold if you do look to sell any of the collection you can not only ask about value but post to sell or trade here too.

Yup, post your buck stuff in the buck subforum. I don't go their much but I believe it is quite active. Posting manufacturer specific things in the appropriate active subforum will help keep your inquires and information collecting organized.

My $.02.

Catalogue and take a picture of all of them. Be as detailed as possible when it comes to boxes, paperwork, and any COA's you may have.

THEN, get insurance on the lot. You may be sitting on tens of thousands of dollars worth of knives and not even realize it.

Current Case knives start at $40.00 and easily go into the hundreds. Same for some Bucks. Mid tech like Protech and Benchmade run between $100-$200.00 and up. Depending on models, condition, and rarity, some of your knives could be worth hundreds to even thousands EACH.

Waiting for more pics.

Good luck and welcome.

Thanks for all the advice. I will also get better at pictures. Looking around the forum made me realize my pictures are rather poor.

Didn't want to say so, but yup.

Looking around the forum is one of the best things you can do as well. Get a feel for what goes on where and how they do things. You can learn a ton just by looking.

I'm curious about the Case and Remingtons if you have some info on the models or want to head over to the porch where the folks are well versed in traditional knives. The old Remingtons from the 20s-30s are extremely collectible.
