well, i recently managed to pry my much awaited little slicer from the hands of the customs over here in germany. as i wrote in my report about the trade/jess, it wasn't his fault, there were some strikes here and it took a week to clear customs. the shipping from Jess was super fast.
the knife came in a totally safe packaging with lots of stuffing and was held in the pouch in the backround with the tip protector.
it is a really nice little knife, high flat grind in aeb-l with a stabilize birch handle.
you can see some machining marks left on the metal (please ignore the vertical scratches, that was me slipping with the sandpaper when rounding the spine a bit more), but nothing bad, the overall finish is very good. nice satin on the blade and i'd call it a semi gloss on the wood.
jess put an almost mirror finish on the grind, very nice, and it is really sharp (not razor sharp, but arm shaving sharp). i'll have to see how long the edge lasts and how the sharpening will be, as this is my first aeb-l blade.
the wood has a very nice structure to it and works well with the copper studs. i am actually rather curious on how the patina on the copper will work out.
so, i am really satisfied... nah, actually i was giddy with excitement when i received it. all in all i paid a little less than 100 including taxes (is it okay to post this? otherwise i will remove it).
Jess was a really nice contact troughout the sale and the whole mail process and i can only recommend him based on this purchase.
so, here are the pictures:
