Recently purchased a Mid-Tech Hellion from Nemesis knives to try out some S30V. The Hellion comes with 2 ballchains and keyrings, allowing the user to wear it as a neck or keychain piece.
Like others, I've tied a paracord lanyard to aid in drawing the blade but ultimately, I'd like some handle slabs on the piece. The most secure grip I've found is to place the thumb on back of the thumbrest and slice at a 45 degree angle. Overall finish is decent with the only rough spots at the choil and tail areas but nothing sandpaper can't remedy. I would like a bit more filework on the thumbrest and smoothing on the choil, as the latter cuts into the kydex with each draw.
I've cut paracord, small rope, plastic, paper, and some cardboard. The cardboard offered the most resistance and maintaining a grip was a bit tricky. I've worn the Hellion as a neckpiece and IWB, very lightweight and barely noticeable. I'm still on the fence about S30v, it feels tough as A2 and sharp as VG-10. I still prefer BG-42, 440V, and INFI but I feel S30v is more than adequate. For minor cutting chores, the Hellion is great but for harder duty the Spyderco folders in S30v would be a better start.
