Just received the new Buck 620 Reaper with viper scales. Im impressed with the overall design. The semi kukri recurved blade came hair splittingly sharp out of the box. The black traction coating adds to the versatility allowing good grip when choking way up on the blade and appears to be very thick and durable. The blade has the front finger gaurd and forward choil intigrated in and is very well done. The spine has good jimping and a thumb ramp that feels great to use. The scales have the nice viper pattern and are traction coated I believe. Getting a secure hold is easy as pie. Knowing the quality of Bucks 420hc with BOS heat treat I have no doubt this will prove to be an excellent performer. The sheath is basic nylon and holds the knife secure as intended but I would have liked to see the molle type sheath of the new Sentry used on this knife. Buck is marketing this as a survival blade but I believe it will shine as a big game knife more than survival due to the thiner lighter construction and extremely agressive and usable blade shape. And with a great sheath it would fall into a tactical pou and serve quite well!

Until next time!

Thanks for your thought. I like mine quite a bit. I find myself reaching for it often. IMO it is good for a lot not sure about a big game knife. I could take apart a whitetail with it but it would not be my first or second pick.

I like the recurve blade for dejointing the animal. Works great! Then you can choke up and use the belly of the blade to skin. It's not my first choice either but should perform well.
