First off I love the color - The foliage color blends great with the orange.

The quick picture shows the pack next to my EDC Kifaru X-Ray.

Ill have to order some web keepers from MR soon!! I can borrow some from my Crew Cab to get me by :)

Initially I didnt like the lack of smaller compartments in this bag that its brother the 3 Day Assault has BUT....that feature actually may give this pack more potential for performance in the long run.

It seems like my main problem is that I fill those additional pockets with items and when I need to cram in bulkier items it is a chore at best. the X-Ray is great at meeting in the middle to allow many pockets AND have a main compartment that carries more than expected.

The top pocket on the Sweet Pea is more than large enough to put most if not all my smaller items that I keep in the xray. They wouldnt be as easily accessible but would be "in pack" non the less.

The top of the Sweet Pea has some pals that I have already hung a Kifaru chamber pocket in to have an extra smaller pouch for items. I have a feeling Ill add a second one under the first to stash items not needed often such as batteries or what not. Also easy to dummy cord a pouch from the pals to keep items in a quick tug away :)

What I think I am loving about this pack is the 3 way opening for accessing items as well as easily stuffing this pack with as much as you can.

First thing Ill do is snag another SHEMAGH just to add padding to the bottom AND be there if I need it.

What I was looking for was a potential size between the Crew Cab and Xray that offered me a doable day pack for hunting and a simple day pack for hiking with a belt that was small enough to keep out of the way when not needed.

Ill post more thoughts as I get some preliminary use with the Sweet Pea but for now it just may fit EXACTLY the nitch I was looking for.

I've got a 3 day assault pack and I love it. I've spent a bunch of money on buying and re-selling backpacks to find the one I like the most and Mystery Ranch really nails the design to me. If there was one thing I would improve it would be to add a little more beef to the carry/drag handle on top. It feels a little thin to me but so far it has done its job.

Yeah. I agree. The carry handle could be more beefy but I thi k the stitching would break before the strap. I'd like to try a 3DA but this Sweat Pea will do just fine. I snagged it for basically $115.

Do you use it for EDC? My X-ray is a tad smaller so it's great for EDC.

Yep. Every day to work and all last week at DisneyWorld (which was a better test than I could have imagined). Its perfect for me and I rarely use that word for gear I've bought.

How do you organize smaller items? Just in the top lid?

Hey Brian, congrats on the bag. I have the old model Dragon Slayer and it's great. I would love to see some more photo's, I'm thinking of selling my Dragon slayer and getting this one for EDC. The dragonslayer is too big for me as edc. Can you post an image with the pack on your back? It would give me a better idea of how big it actually is.
Thanks, Barry

Barry
What color slayer you have? The slayer is 300ci larger than the sweet pea. I'll try and get a picture tonight. Just imaging the slayer a tad shorter.

I have the foliage one, great color. Thing is, I use the bag too little and I think that's a waste. It's way too nice to collect dust in my closet.

Don't say that! I have a weakness for backpacks and will be wanting to snagg it somehow. Glad I have this one to hold me over :)

the "ting" "ting" "ting" started driving me nuts and I havent even used pack yet!! :)

That looks like a great EDC bag Brian! I'm uisng a multicam 3DAP here in Afghanistan...I love it! Most of my traveling is via helo or convoy to our smaller sites and some are over-nighters; they're all pretty close, but visiblity and road condtions can often change a day visit to a 2-3 day visit. I can pack enough to comfortably stay for a few days and I don't have the burden of the big ass MOLLE ruck they issued (it's nice too, but more room always seems to equate to more weight). I'm still trying to optimize my 3DAP for my current uses and have a couple of Kifaru's 2-quart canteen/accessory pouches coming. I had the radio pouch removed as it's just not something I need over here and it gives me more packing room for reacreational activities when I get home. It needs to warm up though as I'm really stuffing it with extra insulation clothes!

Brian,
Thank you for sharing. I am lookign for the elusive EDC/dayhiking solution so I am following and reading the internet reviews. It looks like the pack as worn would end up with a "belly belt" instead of a waist belt which is theproblem I am having with the packs I have tried. Anything small enough tends to be useless for waist belt. Will the pack adjust down on its harness to make good use of the waist belt?

Right now I am comparing the Camelbak Linchpin and this MR Sweat Pea in reading reviews. I have been using the Baby Condor- size is fine but too short to use a waist belt and not enouigh adjustment.

Thanks,
Bill

Bill. I have the adjustable yoke system the shortest. If I want to use the belt I sims slide up the strap yoke and the pack falls down. Very simple uniform adjustment and you don't adjust each strap seperate like some brands. I have the yoke system at its shortest length to aid in its compactness for urban travel next week.

Don't let this picture fool you. The body of the pack will fall in less than 30 seconds and give you a waste belt not belly belt.

Brian, many thanks. I have never owned a pack with a support system that adjustable- I think it is exactly what I need.

Bill

It's one reason I love MR packs. They fit everyone. I have both MR packs with a medium yoke.

Looks like time to sell some unsused packs& other odds and ends. 250.00 is not cheap but it is time to have one that is "right".

Thanks,
Bill
