Inkosi immune to lock stick?

I had some issues today with pretty bad lock stick on my small 21, that I thankfully got figured out. It was completely my fault and not an issue of the knife's quality at all. Anyway, it did make me realize that the 21's titanium lockface can become sticky if it or the tang of the blade gets soiled with certain substances such as orange juice/peel or certain lubricants (in my case Super Lube synthetic grease, which is great stuff by the way. Just not for CRK knives)

My question is this: Can the Inkosi/Umnumzaan lock still become sticky if the lockface or tang are soiled with some sort of grease/food debris? Logically I would assume that because of the ceramic ball interface, there is no possibility for stickiness to occur. Has anyone ever tested this? Can any Inkosi owners confirm?

Thanks!

Also, I am grateful for the almighty wisdom of BF. It really helped me get my lock stick issue figured out today.

The only time I've experienced something similar to lock stick with a ceramic ball CRK it's been from squeezing the lock bar hard to see how far it will travel. The Inkosi with the lock groove really does not do that, but the 25's can, if wedged hard enough. And that's not lock stick, it's probably because the lock bar is getting bent like a spring. I've used a small Inkosi since November 2015 and have never experienced a sticky lock release.

However, it only makes sense that if you allow gunk to build up in the lock area that there will be some stickiness. That's why we clean our knives, especially with regards to food preparation.

I own both a large and small Inkosi, and have never experienced even the slightest bit of lock stick on either one. When you release the lock bar there's no resistance to the gentle pressure required to close the knife.

The detent is perfect, they're incredibly smooth opening and closing, and the lockup is awesome thanks to the groove in the blade tang. It's a great design.

I must've been one of the unlucky ones because my Inkosi has suffered from lock stick since the day I bought it. I've been wanting to send it back but am waiting until it needs to be sharpened.

I believe it is resistant from lock stick because of oversize ceramic ball hardened at 97 RC. The ball contacts the knife steel blade rather than the titanium lock itself on the sebenza. This I assume would mean that sticky-ness would not develop.

Additionally the blade grooves (where ceramic ball meets blade steel) "provides an lifetime [of] consistent lockup"

If you do feel sticky-ness, its likely because it have developed to much dirt/ lint (It needs to be cleaned! :)).

Calypso699 make sure you're pushing the lock straight out to the side. There isn't much real estate on there for your thumb like the sebenza because of the finger groove. I know because I had the same issue with a slight stick because I was pushing down slightly then out on the lock. Now when I make a conscious effort to push directly out to the side I haven't experienced it since.

Thank you for the tip. I haven't thought of that but it makes perfect sense. I'll give it a try.
